Raglan Parc Golf Club
18 November 2018
As most of you will be aware, the Golf Club Board has for some time been trying to negotiate a new and extensive Lease for the Club and that more recently we have made a formal bid to the shareholders of Raglan Castle Properties Ltd (our Landlords) to buy it. Sadly, to date, the offers have been ignored. Unfortunately the landlord took a decision to refer all matters to a solicitor and has more recently refused to discuss anything with us or respond to our telephone calls.
It is therefore, with the deepest regret & sadness that I inform you: the Golf Club is now closed. Every member will receive a letter from our Liquidator in the near future which will explain how the process will work and how claims can be lodged.
I am personally heartbroken that our Golf Club, after so many years of hard work by so many of us, will be lost. I find it beyond belief that our landlord can be so contemptible and callous to sit by and watch us go under, after our rescuing the Club and their investment, from certain closure some 8 years ago.
As a result of their actions, both Colin and I will lose a considerable monetary investment, made for what we believed would be the Club’s future.
We will endeavour to find out from the Golf Union how each of you stands with regard to your handicaps and affiliation fees. I am also prepared to approach one or two other Golf Clubs in the immediate area – should there be a wish from members for me to do so, in order to try and negotiate a winter deal for them. Please indicate by email to the Club’s website if you wish me to do so and state your preferred choice.
My sincere thanks to all those who have helped in the success of the Club (and there have been many) and hope you find it in your hearts to forgive us (the Board) for the action we have been forced to take.
Those of you with Buggies who wish to have them collected, can contact Hugh on 07773 339996
Those of you with lockers and personal belongings in the changing rooms, should retrieve your property ASAP. (It would be shameful should the owners try to withhold your property from you)
Chris Murphy statement below.
It is with great sadness that I send you guys this message, due to the unfortunate circumstances that have befallen the club I have a very limited time to get my business affairs in order. All account holders in credit will need to use it against stock in the shop by Wednesday 7th November, customers in arrears on their accounts will need to settle their balances in full by Wednesday 7th November, or the goods concerned will be collected from you. For all members who have lesson credits, I am able to fulfil these obligations here at Raglan until Wednesday 7th November, plus over the next 3 months at Rodway Hill Golf Club in Gloucester. Any member who has placed an order and it has yet to be fulfilled I am sorry but all advanced orders have now been cancelled and will not be arriving.
The hours of opening for the shop from 1st November will be as follows, Friday 2nd November 10.00am -2.00pm, Saturday 3rd November, 12.00pm-4.00pm, Sunday 4th November 9.00am-1.00pm and Monday 5th to Wednesday 7th between 10.00am and 2.00pm I apologise sincerely once again for this and would like to thank you all for all the support and the friendships over the past 14 years.
